Dan and I are looking for someone else who loves tasty super-fresh fish caught by local fisherman and delivered later the same day to join the Cape Ann Fresh Catch Community Supported Fishery with us. Their Cambridge dropoff site is near Dan's work, so he can pick up. Deliveries are Mondays.

Up until approximately a year ago, I would not eat fish (sushi and canned tuna excepted.) The texture and the smell both turned me off. Dan's assured me that I needed to try fresh fish. My very first meal made from the Cape Ann delivery changed my entire opinion of fish. For the entirety of last summer I actively looked forward to those Monday night fish dinners.

Respond if you're interested, please, and I'll answer questions or refer them to Dan. :)

I'd like to eat a plate or two of this some time.

Alert me when you plan to be in town on a Monday night.

I can't do this (money), but it reminds me that at some point I want to grill some Alaskan Wild Salmon on one of these nice cedar planks this summer.

Depending on the price and how long it'd be for, I could be convinced. Would you be getting them pre-filleted/gutted/scaled? Or would you be getting them whole?

Dan likes getting them whole. More fish for less money, overall. He knows how to do all of the prep and would probably be willing to teach.

That would be awesome, I think. Also I get fish heads. How much and could it be for only a few months?

We would definitely give you all the heads; we always just threw them out. :)

The "season" is 12 weeks, March-April-May. The whole fish delivery is $20/wk total. There is also an option for an every-other-week delivery schedule. http://www.capeannfreshcatch.org/spr2011_shares.html

Yeah, I can dig that. You guys would be signing up for every week? I've been craving more protein since I stopped eating meat that I didn't know where it came from, and having awesome sustainable fish would be just what I need.

We would prefer to do the weekly. :)

I'll start an email with you, me, and Dan.

I'm willing to support this, since I also like extremely fresh fish. Let me know if you still have space?

Uh, you know... some time in 2011.

Probably.

Sure! Maybe you and [livejournal.com profile] contradictacat can split that part, or if she can't make a week you can nab it, or something. (Or if more people respond, we can just do another share entirely!) Do you know how to do the preparation stuff?

Nod. Season runs from March to end of May, so, you know, come back sometime during that. :)

Yep! Mom's dad was a fisherman and he taught me how to do it in Ecuador many years ago. :)

He fillets his own fish!?

WHAT CAN DAN NOT DO?

Seriously. I think I'm in love with him.

Damn. I would totally do this, except I don't want to have to drive an hour once a week, and I'm not supposed to eat more than 12oz of fish a week.

I think this is an awesome idea, though.

He can't knit... yet. He has bought yarn for himself to learn on, though. ;)

You should totally pick up from their Acton or Bolton drop-off sites, then, and do a every-other-week share. >_>

Wednesdays:
Acton: 1:30–3:30 p.m. at Butter Brook Farm, 982 Main Street
Fridays:
Bolton: 3:30–5:30 p.m. at Bolton Spring Farm, 159 Main Street

I wish I knew of something like this local to me. I am part of a veggie CSA that can get me lamb, pork, and beef, but no fish.
