Caleb, the other helpline guy besides Chris and me, just won the "Connect the Classics" on the old country station again. He does this once a week, I swear. He won a 6' scottish pine christmas tree. Go him!

I'm not quite sure what's up. I'm on the phone with someone else, and the phone starts ringing. I look at it, don't recognize the number on caller ID. The call cuts off after 2 rings. Then, the phone starts ringing again about 30 seconds later. I look at the caller ID, and I think it's the same number. I still can't answer. The call cuts off yet again... No message shows up. A minute later, the phone rings AGAIN, and yes, it's the same number. Now, I mean, what's up with people? Can't they just leave a message and let me call them back? Do they really want to waste their own long distance? It's just really annoying. I don't want to hear the phone ringing off the hook while I'm trying to tutor someone else. *sigh*

Looks like they finally left a message (it hasn't rung since after I got off the phone and started writing this, but I haven't checked the message light either).

Also, I'm sick of people who only want to talk to me. I have no clue of how Chris tutors (he gets to fly solo... whee for him...), but I listen to Caleb a lot. Certainly there are times where I think I can explain much better than he does, but he does explain well. What's up with me? Chris or Caleb each could tell you "the reason they added a 12*12 was because they were changing from sq.ft. to sq.in." just as easily as I could. Feh.

The only good thing I see in that, is that it makes me feel good about having a possibility of earning extra income off of tutoring at times. Apparently I do it well...

I wonder if some of these people will want my home phone number andor email when I leave Saxon...

as to the people who call repeatedly, it's usually Hope at some christian academy or other whenever I'm there. like, as soon as I get her message she calls again. it pisses me off. it's worse than my little brother's friends.

regarding my tutoring ability, I'm really good with people who have a genuine desire for help. when people listen to what I say they will learn how to do things very quickly. but the people who call and act like it's my fault that they don't understand how to explain 8th grade math to their kids, I have no patience because I really don't give a shit if the never learn. listening is the key to learning, ma'am, and I've known 2-year-olds who listen better than you. I feel really sorry for the children of these people. I realize that patience is a virtue and I do my best to take the rudeness in stride, but I don't try as hard to help someone who doesn't act like they want my help. That probably makes me a worse tutor than some other people. What can I say? Retribution is the divine way.

btw, I think elise's dad is into moxy fruvous. but I may be mistaken.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's hard to keep talking to people when they just aren't listening, almost on purpose. sigh.

Yeah, I was talking to elise about it last night and she said, "you've never heard of moxy fruvous?" since I had only heard about them for the first time that day. it 's weird that I dig a band that someone's dad likes too. ;)
