Cirque du Soleil
21 October 2008 22:07Last Saturday night, I went to Cirque du Soleil thanks to the awesome generosity of
jargo, who gave me his two free tickets from work. I went with
shadowravyn because she is awesome and here for me a lot.
I love the circus. Cirque is the fanciest circus production I've ever been to, and I found that the skill of most of the acts didn't necessarily make up the extra cost I (would've) paid to see it over any other more local circus act, so now I know! That said, it was still AWESOME and the music was great and there was glitz and flashing lights and times I clung to shadowravyn because what we were seeing was SO NEAT.
The Wheel of Death (warning: video has horrible audio, and isn't actually of Cirque - and Cirque only had two wheels) was definitely the coolest part, and the one I want to play on! But then I have a Thing for flying/weightlessness. I also want to try the Teeterboard, assuming soft landing spaces.
At one point a cannon full of balloons and confetti was shot into the audience, and shadowravyn snagged a balloon who then became Mr. Bulbous-Head and hit on me inappropriately for the rest of the night. It's a good thing I wasn't wearing a skirt, or I'm sure he would've tried to cop a feel. Tsk, tsk. Hope you've given him a stern talking-to, shadowravyn.
The only sucky part about the whole evening was that some combination of possibly something I ate or drank, or the lights of the circus, or just the fate of some powerful being gave me a horrendous headache (possibly migraine?) that started partway through the show and was so bad by the end of the night that when shadowravyn was driving around looking for a place for us to eat afterwards, I began to feel so nauseated I had to cut short the evening and go home... where I threw up. :( And then went to bed. So the evening had a sucky tinge on it afterwards. Blah.
But looking back I will remember the neat parts and not the migraine-induced vomiting. Yay.
