I have given my $6.50 to the blockbuster opening weekend, and wow. I'm glad I saw a matinee, so that I could leave the movie into sunshine and belief that the world isn't the world of Gotham City.

I don't think it was, "Joker: the Movie," as I think there was enough screentime for the other characters. But Ledger was pretty awesome indeed, and I love the (as [livejournal.com profile] ddrpolaris put it) Freshman psych lesson in there.

See it.

Oh, I'm not calling it Joker: The Movie because it focused on the Joker to the exclusion of everyone else. Personally, I was really pleased with the balance of character development. Granted, I wasn't particularly moved by the love-triangle, but they did a good job keeping it an important thematic element while not shoving it down the aucience's throat.

I call it Joker: The Movie because the Joker was, without a doubt, the most impressive character in the film. He stole every scene he was in, and I was just blown away by Heath's acting.
