Boy... the last two days have been superfull of entertainment and excitement... thanks mostly to other Gaea Spore members and mother nature.
Friday night, at the Happiness Hotel, band practice. Since only 4 of us are there (Brendan, Chris, Thom, me) there's not much practice going on. Chris goes outside for some reason and calls us all out there... the sky is doing really funky things, is this weird shade of yellow, clouds above the house are converging in a nice rotating pattern... bad, but cool to look at. So we figure that the nightly trip to Texaco for drinks should happen before it starts raining. Of course, right then while we're outside it starts raining, but it's light, so we decide we can go on. A couple driveways down it's pretty much pouring, but hey, we're going to keep walking! And then I get hit in the back of the head with something small and hard (ow) and there's a collective realization that it's also hailing... Large hail. The size of large marbles. So of course, instead of running back to the Hotel, we run to Texaco. ;)
So by the time we get to Texaco, we're completely soaked, pelted, cold... So we stand outside and shoot the breeze (and Chris gets a big cup of hot chocolate) for a while. Finally we realize that we're ready to take the sprint back. Chris takes the only opportunity in his life to pour hot chocolate down his pants (I can only imagine how that felt).
Actually, Brendan and Chris ran back, and Thom and I just sauntered. I like walking in the rain, and the hail had stopped by then.
So upon reaching the house, every article of clothing I had on was soaked with rain. So, of course, I put all (well most) of my clothes in the dryer and put on something else (not in that order). I wrapped a towel around my waist and secured it as a skirt with several safety pins, and since my bra wasn't too wet nor too revealing (I wear worse at dance shows) I just wore it. It was interesting fashion. Soon I was too cold and put on a shirt, though.
I even ended up wearing the towel-skirt home because the dryer hadn't dried my pants before 1am ;) Heck, I don't think they're even dry yet.
So then, Saturday. I woke up and fiddled around for a while and rode my bike once again to the Hotel (it was a football game day, so my car wasn't leaving my parking lot) and Brendan and I walked to campus corner to give plasma. I got my last payment of $30, so now it'll only ever be $20... Plus, they're going to start not being open on game days, which are Saturdays, which are the only days I can give plasma, which pisses me off. I don't see how the football game affects the operation of a plasma donation center. *sigh*
Then we go back, and sit around for a long long time (I took a little nap on the kitchen couch)... and Waylon shows up for Sinus practice, which doesn't really happen (except for Waylon), and Chase shows up, and we all decide we need a big shopping trip and get in Thom's car to drive here to my apartment so that we can switch to my car and have Thom's car save my parking spot. We acquire Karen and have a nice big fun shopping trip to Pratt's, Walmart, and Albertson's. I spent my plasma money on food instead of a personal fun gift, and that's all good. I was able to just shop without worrying about going over budget (and I didn't!).
After we're back and groceries are unloaded, we go back to the Hotel (leaving my car here once again), and on yet another trip to Texaco (this time not in the rain) I run into Logan in the parking lot, who is hungry like me! So Logan and I go off in search of a place to eat that serves food after 10pm and isn't full of rabid football fans. Amusingly enough, we find that at the Vista, which is supposd to be a sports bar. Well, we were in the non-smoking section, so maybe that's why. We had a really great dinner of talking about a whole plethora of things, and me eating most of the food on the table. I was rather hungry. ;)
I think Logan and I need to do things together more often. I enjoy the conversations we have.
Then a return to the Happiness Hotel, where I see The Adventures of Baron Munchausen for the first time (woo) and spend the night rather than ride my bike home in the dark. I woke up at 8:00ish and left, hopefully without waking anyone up.
So here I am... pretty tired, but awake, and wondering if I should stay awake or sleep... probably stay awake, so that tonight (as a school night) I will go to bed at a reasonable time and not 2am. =P
