I solved the problem of Buttercup's cleavage. This means an extra layer of clothing, but at least I can wear whatever shoes I want...?

(Explanation: I'm wearing my one piece of SCA garb, the purple dress, as my Buttercup costume. However, Buttercup would not show the amount of cleavage that I do. However, I can layer a... white sheath I suppose is the best way to put it (the remains of The Dress to those who know) under it, which is only visible as something that covers more of my cleavage. And it adds lots of skirt poufiness. It works.)

It also means I'll need help getting into costume (zipping up the back). Assumedly [livejournal.com profile] londo, [livejournal.com profile] tpau, or [livejournal.com profile] learnedax will help (or [livejournal.com profile] laura47 if she's hanging around, or...)

Now I must decide what to wear to the dance. THEN I can pack. THEN I can start work on other shit that will take hours to finish, but I can't put off because (a) it's important and (b) I promised.

So much for sleeping tonight. *sigh*

Buttercup as in TPB? Is it for another game? If so.. do you do it all in one room type thing or .. I don't know. I'm imagining people in costume doing role playing stuff but I can't imagine where you'd do it that would look authentic..?

Some games are just in bare rooms at colleges or hotels and we do our best to just go with it. Some games are in people's homes. And sometimes the sets and atmosphere completely blow you away. I played a game (wasn't so much a game as an intense, immersive roleplaying experience) two weeks ago, Tales of Pendragon, set in England a bit after King Arthur. It was amazing. The props were awesome. They put up floor to ceiling wall hangings to separate the area and make it into 'rooms'. We had stone for the castle, and vines and roses over stone for the rose garden, and a chapel, and a tavern, and for the wilderness they brought in piles of tree branches and leaves. We had a throne and a round table and we even had fake entrails at our feast. It was hard not to be in charcter in such a beautiful location!

Buttercup is in "The School For Young Women Specializing in the Arts of Grace and Maidenly Submission", which I played last year. The charcters come from a wide variety of media, from literature of hundreds years ago (Dulcinea, Porthos) to Buffy the Vampire Slayer to history (Queen Christina of Sweden). And they are all at these three schools, a finishing school, a swashbuckling school, and a pirate school. Wacky hijinks ensue. I went shopping for fake flowers for the game last night, and the GMs ([livejournal.com profile] gower, [livejournal.com profile] drdt grabbed some of the wall decorations from tales of pendragon. It's a fabulous game. Here are some pictures from my run. http://sunnuva.ai.mit.edu/gallery/album68

I feel really weird knowing that I'm playing the same character as Becky (redhead) played last year. I don't think she and I are very much like each other at all. :P
