Linking directly to the comic. Costs them bandwidth money and bypasses the ads that help them recoup it. It's not good 'net mojo, some webcomic artists get pretty riled up about it.
That's okay for a text link, sure. Most people don't mind if you host it on your own webspace though, if you want to post the image in-line with other stuff. They usually say it somewhere.
Comics like Sexy Losers actually display a nasty message if the page that requests the image isn't sexylosers.com, Hard in particular is pretty tough about it. He had a big to-do with Keenspace about it, even.
