I seem to be having this tremendous difficulty with my lifestyle.

You see, there was a portion of this weekend where I was sitting down with some of my best female friends, dishing about boys and the pressures of Western society's expectations of women, and when it was appropriate, we expressed ourselves in song, with minimal self-consciousness and maximum respect for the others when they were singing.

Why can't life do that ALL the time?! It was excellent!

I KNOW!!!!

When you break into random song in real life, all you get are funny looks.

If you ever want to have a serious conversation that includes occasional bursts of music, call me. I'm so there.

(Can we wear pretty dresses, too?)

I am so jealous that you guys got to do this and I didn't. When are they running this again?

Why can't life be like that all the time?

Our voices would go out, and most people lack the skills to extemporaneously come up with song lyrics.

But it certainly would be more entertaining if life could be like that.

I don't know that voices would go out. Most of the time our songs were what, 30 seconds to a minute long, and singing was limited to a few times an hour, yes? That leaves plenty of time for taking care of throats.

As to the skills, well, that's why we have songs pre-written. Not that I don't think my burrito song was good enough for on-the-spot lyricism! But perhaps if I started off with a small cache of simple songs about everyday events - waking up, showering, being outside in good or bad weather, being hungry, coming home, going to bed - I could later build on the skills necessary to have a song about, for example, staying up late and shorting oneself on sleep in order to engage in stimulating internet conversation with interesting new people.

I think I need to build up my repertoire, and then we should start practicing having conversations that feature song snippets. The dresses might help, so they should definitely be included.

Ah yes, in game we really didn't sing that constantly. I'm just remembering the fact that I seriously overdid it during my first days of practicing and got all scratchy-sore throat like.

Hmmm... that would certainly work, but the songs wind up being far more general purpose than the focus was meant to be in Deceit. More of a soundtrack with words than a musical, if that comparison makes any sense outside of my head.

Then again, if we spent all our time playing through 'possible scenes I expect to come up' in real life (like, I at least, am guilty with for LARP's), then we could manage to put together at least some semblance of more specific songs without requiring immediate improvisation.
