poll - what do you think about lyric LJ posts?

[Poll #933902]
Er, in that last one, instead of "never realizing" substitute "uncaring of" or something like that.

I've had all of these reactions.

2 and 4, mostly 4. The really sad part is, I generally find lyrics posts pointless unless I'm doing the posting or already know exactly what's going on.

I felt bad about my answer, but it was truthful.

You know, my answer is really "it depends": it depends on whether or not I know the tune. I don't think lyrics posts are meaningful w/o knowing the tune.

Lol. This is a great poll.

To me, it depends on who's posting the lyrics. If it's some random person who always posts punk music lyrics, I tend to skip them. But I'll read any lyrics as long as they are brief. Excerpts are better than a screen full of

oh, oh, oh
oh, baby, oh
oh, baby

No, when I chose that option I really meant "never realizing". I'm a little people-retarded like that.

There are lots of other possibilities...

  • Read and wallowed in one's own emo-ness for a few hours
  • Read and clawed one's eyes out at the banality
  • Read and not understood because one still lives in one's parent's basement
  • Read and became sad that you're old enough to be the author's parent

I also think that "never realizing" .NE. "uncaring of". So that's one more.
