sewing!!

I was inspired by a reversible bag I saw on [livejournal.com profile] sew_hip and needed a birthday present for [livejournal.com profile] londo's little toddler niece whose birthday party I'm attending on Saturday, so I made her a bag! On one side it's a pretty tie-dyed print and the other is bright yellow fleece with green frogs. I have been sitting on that frog fabric for so long without anything to do with it. For the strap I used a rainbow-colored ribbon I had that matches the tie-dye pretty well.

I'm so proud of myself!!

Now the question is, will a ... 4, I think, year old like this? It's bright and colorful, and a good size for carrying toys and books... We'll see I guess. If not then I'm keeping it! ;)

That bag is great! It is really pretty. I totally think a four year old will like it. (I've had an obsessjon with bags since I was really young, myslef) I see little kids come in to the library with their own bags; it's a big deal for them to get to put their books in their own bag.

I'm always so impressed with your sewing projects. Thanks for posting such terriffic inspiration!

Thanks for the praise! I'll dream happy tonight! :)

I think a 4 year old will love that!

Not only is it brightly colored, but also it looks a lot like a purse. She will think she is a very big girl, having that! And besides, the frogs rock.

The frogs do rock. I still have extra of that fabric, so I might have to make myself a frog bag!

I like it. The reversable thing is great.

That is so super cute!!
Little girls LOVE purses-whoever said that is right! It looks like a purse-she should dig it.
That frog fabric I think would really cute made into a baby/infant's blanket.

Nod, if nothing else I can just cut off the selvage edges and have a little blanket :)

That is super-cool!

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2004-08-20 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Do you have any cool clubby ideas for the remainder of my frog fabric? There's not much, less than a yard, but I need to do something neat with it!

[identity profile] zenandtheart.livejournal.com 2004-08-20 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
hrm.. leg warmers and matching bikini top?;) I've soooo got to get my ass into gear and make stuff for the next big event!

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2004-08-20 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
See I thought (back when I had more fabric) of making a bikini top and skirt out of it, but the print is so big that it'd be hard to make the bikini top... Unless, I could possibly cut it out to place a frog smack dab on the front of each breast! Heehee.

I noticed that you were listening to Dashboard Confessional. Are they any good? They are going to be playing at the Tears for Fears/Morrissey show next month but I don't really know anything about them.

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2004-08-20 06:00 am (UTC)(link)
Dashboard Confessional is actually just one guy, although sometimes he plays with a band... I dunno what will be happening at your show. He's emo-core. The chicks love him. That includes me. ;)

Although, I like his old stuff more than the new.

I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best!

The bag came out great! It is sooo cute.

WANT!

[identity profile] karlean7.livejournal.com 2004-08-20 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, god, those frogs are awesome. You done good. I can safely say that the bag is highly desirable.

[identity profile] fluttergrrl30.livejournal.com 2004-08-20 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, *I* love it! I think she will, too - she very much wants bookbags and purses, like her big sister. (Psst . . . she's three . . . )

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2004-08-23 05:43 am (UTC)(link)
I was happy when she wore it around for a while at the party. :)

[identity profile] redstapler.livejournal.com 2004-08-22 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
You don't know me, but I'm a friend of [livejournal.com profile] londo's. All I could think of when I saw the tye-dyed side was, "It's his neice, of COURSE she'll like tye-dye!"

;)

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2004-08-23 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe, yup... she's his neice and she idolizes him, so tie-dye is a winning fabric for her present!

[identity profile] flyingindie.livejournal.com 2004-08-22 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. That is one hella cute bag. I *assume* any little girl would like it. Good job!
