frustrations

ARGH.

So, I finally made it to the gym today. I've been signed up since January 5, but as I hurt my knee the next day, no gym for me. Of course I haven't been to PT yet so I don't know that I should've gone to the gym, but dammit. As londo keeps telling me, I complain about my body shape but I don't do anything about it. So I decided to do something about it.

I figured I'd go at 5, do 20-30 minutes of low-impact cardio, and leave. Catch the 5:30 or 5:45 bus to Central, get home at 6:30-7:00.

By the time I walked to the gym, talked to the guy at the front desk about stuff, found the ladies' locker room, found an empty locker, and changed clothes, it was 5:30. Grr. I still did 20 min on an elliptical, getting out at 5:50. Assumed I'd catch the 6:00, then. Which I did, although it left at more like 6:12. (Which means the bus I saw passing as I was walking to the stop, at about 5:55, was probably the 5:45 bus.) So it got to Central not in time to catch the NEXT bus I need to catch, the 91 at 6:30. Which means I had until 6:50 for the next one. "Cool," I thought, "I'll run to Whole Foods and visit [livejournal.com profile] sandrylene and pick up some stuff."

I am in checkout when the 6:50 bus goes by. Things hadn't gone as planned inside the store. Sigh. The next bus is at 7:45 - no way I'm waiting for that. I begin walking towards home (with heavy grocery bags!) and planning.

I call [livejournal.com profile] kobold a couple times; no answer. I mentally bitch about lack of car and lack of car-having friends. I walk up to Cambridge and wait for the 69. Find out I missed that one by about 5 minutes too, and have 15 to wait. Knit. Be cold.

Get on 69 bus. Get to Lechmere 10 minutes after connecting bus. Wait another 20. Get home.

So... instead of getting home at 6:30-7:00, I'm home at 8:10. Tired, pissed off, and my knee hurts like hell from all of the walking I did.

And yes, I could've gotten a taxi at any time; I had $12 in cash on me. I didn't feel like it. Sod off.

Also, it's Valentine's Day, and although I don't feel the need to do anything special with londo for it, it would be nice to at least talk to him. He was going to bed this morning as I was waking up, and I haven't seen hide/hair of him since. Bleh.

Sorry your V-Day was miserable. :hugs: Rest assured, you're ahead of the game as far as I am concerned.

Yeah, but I'd like to feel ahead of the game as far as I'm concerned, too.

Oi, sorry that sucked so much. =\

For what it's worth, your face was a bright spot in the middle of my also sucky day.

I'm glad it was a good for you, then. :) And I was glad to see you, if only for a short while.

You sure do catch a bunch of buses.

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. While I am injured, I take three busses to and from work.

this, i think, is why i like subways better than buses. but i don't know anything about the boston area's subway system.

p.s.: i'm thinking about becoming a transportation planner.

Dude, you can get jobs doing that?! Sign me up!!

Because of where I live and work, I'd have to get busses to take me to the subway. ;) So it wouldnt' be much better.

[identity profile] goldbug.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
well, i'm thinking of doing a master's in "regional and city planning". and one of the specializations you can do is transportation planning.

Along with the Arch. Masters? Or is that not working out?

[identity profile] goldbug.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
no, instead of. i'm taking a really cool city planning class this semester. and i think i might be better at planning than architecture. well, i'm pretty darn sure i'd be better at it. and, in the fall they're offering a class on public transportation. i must take it!

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2005-02-28 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
Neat! So if you like the public transit class, you're going to switch over your degree plan? Or did you already?

I am really interested in the idea of a public transit class... you are SO going to have to tell me all about it.

well, the goal is to decide SOON what program i want to be in, so i can get admitted for fall. but i'm definitely leaning towards planning now. whichever way i choose i will definitely take the public transit class.
