super freakout

Damn you, fate. Damn you for taking good news and completely smothering it with horribleness.
And damn me.
Yes, I put off hemming my suits. Until half an hour ago. I put on one of the pairs of pants to check to see where to pin up the hem.
They're too big.
Quite obviously too big.
Concerned, I try on a skirt.
Too big.
You see, I bought these suits (3 of them, $400 total) when I first moved here. I thought I was going to get right on the ball when it came to getting a job, but I didn't.
But I did join a gym.
And I've lost weight.
Never enough to notice, until now.
And now all my interview suits are too big.
Yay, I've lost weight?

What in the fuck am I going to do now.

Eat your suit back on!

Hooray! (?)

Sorry to hear that. Guess, maybe you should borrow one from someone? I dunno'.

I don't think it's possible for me to eat that much and not throw it all up. Maybe tie padding around my waist, though... ;)

you are oging to go to Syms in reading, and buy a new suit. liek alaast year 2k suit for 2oo or something. then yo uwil lwear it. then you can return it.

If I had (1) a way to get to Syms or (2) $200, that would work. I don't have either. Plus, your husband managed to find someone to occupy all my time this weekend, so going shopping wasn't a possibility.

Find a nice tailor -- many dry cleaners offer it, and there are freestanding ones too. Taking in the side seams of the skirt should not be an expensive operation. Altering the jacket may be more $, but there's more leeway in how a jacket hangs.

(Actually, the above was written by me, [livejournal.com profile] msmemory, but I didn't remember to check which of us had left LJ logged in. Oops!)

Oh, I knew alteration was an option, but I am really broke. Getting a credit card cash advance to pay rent type broke. :P That's why this interview is so important... It's a job that I want and can get!!

when is the interview?

when is the interview? what size do you wear now, if you don't mind my asking? Maybe you could borrow a suit from someone. :)

I leave for the interview later today (monday), it actually occurs on Tuesday morning. I seem to be wearing a 12 now, which is totally awesome. Since I haven't lived here in Boston long, I don't know enough females to know someone of the same size that I could borrow a suit from. :-/

Yeah, unless you wanted to overnight ship me the suit... but if I remember right you're quite a bit taller than me... I'm 5'3".

alterations are fairly cheap...we got five pairs of pants altered for blix in a two day time period and paid 40$ total with the 'rush' fee. I would definitely look into it. I would do them for you myself...but I live far far away :(

I don't know, suits just seem so complex, with all sorts of different hems and darts and such, that it doesn't seem like you can actually take them in correctly without having to fiddle with lots of different things. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.
