how I met my friends list...

Meme brought to me via [livejournal.com profile] en_ki. This one looks really cool. "A capsule summary of my life expressed as an explanation of the various LJ people I know in person or whom I can explain friending."

Pre-LJ people: I was born on Blytheville AFB, Arkansas. Moved to Atwater, CA at age 2. Moved to Hickam AFB, HI at age 5. Moved to Barksdale AFB, LA at age 8, and then to Bossier City, LA at age 10. Moved to Rocklin, CA at age 13...

A year later, at age 14, I started high school at Del Oro HS in Loomis, CA. At band camp before school started, I met [livejournal.com profile] scottage. He played tuba; I played french horn; we met at brass rehearsals. I remember he kept a binder full of amusing things: Monty Python scripts, naughty jokes, etc etc. There was one joke concerning a gift mixup: a man bought a pair of gloves to give to his girlfriend, but she received a pair of lacy underwear instead. But the instructions for the gloves were still there, including, "You can roll the top down to expose the fur underneath." Heehee. We became friends quickly.

At lunchtime with him I met [livejournal.com profile] plastic_pilot, who I also became fast friends with, and once tied to a pole outside the school using tape from a New Kids On The Block audio tape. He ate his way out.

The two of them were constantly referring to [livejournal.com profile] guvnor, and eventually pointed him out across the lawn one day, heading to classes while we had lunch. He was, of course, wearing The Hat and a black trenchcoat. Once I met him I was sucked into the vortex that was the Department of Surrealism, from which I have yet to escape.

At 16, I moved to Edmond, OK, at the beginning of junior year. I met [livejournal.com profile] azadam through band (once again brass line - he was a trombonist) and a week after I moved there, he introduced me to [livejournal.com profile] tinder at a football game. Two weeks later at another football game, [livejournal.com profile] tinder and I were snuggling under the same blanket. ;) We dated for most of the rest of high school. During that time I also met [livejournal.com profile] krink through band and school, [livejournal.com profile] maximilian_xiii through [livejournal.com profile] tinder, and [livejournal.com profile] baronbrian through both them.

I also began mudding on [livejournal.com profile] three_kingdoms during that time. I'm not sure if I met [livejournal.com profile] kishpa on 3k or in person first, but I knew her from both. I also met [livejournal.com profile] ladylarken through 3k during that time, since she lived in northern Texas and there were mud parties in Denton or Edmond that people would travel the 2-3 hours for.

I have mudded on 3k fairly continuously from high school until now, and several people from my friends list are people I know through there. I don't remember the order of getting to know them online, so I'll just rattle them off, in general order of when I also met them in person (if I have). I might be wrong about some of those Official Mud Parties, though.

I met [livejournal.com profile] theviper, [livejournal.com profile] shadowhawke, [livejournal.com profile] sin_vraal, and [livejournal.com profile] caltren for the first time at the Chicago OMP in 1999. I met [livejournal.com profile] olfin at the Cincinatti OMP in 2000. At the Vegas OMP in 2001 I met [livejournal.com profile] adalius and [livejournal.com profile] gaffman.

Other mudders I have known for a while but haven't met: [livejournal.com profile] amandalenon, whom I met through [livejournal.com profile] gaffman; [livejournal.com profile] dayln, who was my guild wiz; and [livejournal.com profile] tramissa, who just kinda somehow wormed her way into my life :)

I graduated from HS in the fall of '98 and went to the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK for college. I met [livejournal.com profile] starfruit and [livejournal.com profile] goldbug in my very first semester "Waves, Optics, and Relativity" class, which I left after 4 weeks. This was because I was in a car accident that broke my leg and my nose, and I completely withdrew from that semester. When I came back the next semester, it turned out that I began to hang out with a group that still included [livejournal.com profile] goldbug and [livejournal.com profile] starfruit. Through them I met [livejournal.com profile] withlyn; in fact, I still remember our meeting, and I made an awful fool of myself. I guess it wasn't that bad, though, since he still became my friend. :) Also through that group of people I met [livejournal.com profile] dervish, whom I ended up moving in with for the latter part of my time at OU, until she moved away to live in Japan with her new husband, [livejournal.com profile] tinder. Yes, my high school boyfriend and my college roommate got married. I'll never tire of telling people that. I just wish it had been me to introduce them. ;)

I met [livejournal.com profile] tank182 at the 1999 (I think) dark party at [livejournal.com profile] withlyn's house. Other people I met through [livejournal.com profile] withlyn are [livejournal.com profile] flyingindie and [livejournal.com profile] victorzinc.

That friends group ([livejournal.com profile] goldbug, [livejournal.com profile] starfruit, [livejournal.com profile] dervish, [livejournal.com profile] withlyn, etc) also introduced me to [livejournal.com profile] gager, [livejournal.com profile] mongonoodle, and [livejournal.com profile] nemoalia.

Through work and classes I met [livejournal.com profile] la2il2ok and [livejournal.com profile] reyjadan, respectively. [livejournal.com profile] la2il2ok worked in the computer lab with me, and I met [livejournal.com profile] reyjadan in CS1323 lab. I completely weirded him out with friendliness, but I guess my powers worked. :)

Norman also had me meeting and befriending (in RL and on LJ) the siblings of my friends. [livejournal.com profile] dayeaux is [livejournal.com profile] reyjadan's sister, and [livejournal.com profile] sargie and [livejournal.com profile] applegobo are both sisters of [livejournal.com profile] dervish.

I left Norman in the summer of 2003, and stopped at the OMP in Pittsburgh on the way to Boston. There I met and befriended a few mudders that I hadn't already been friends with over 3k; therefore they weren't included above. These fine folks are [livejournal.com profile] crimson5, [livejournal.com profile] duke_nemmerle, and [livejournal.com profile] sammid.

Once in Boston, I joined the [livejournal.com profile] som_pos community, since the webcomic is based in Boston and the community contains a lot of Bostonians. A chance post by me begging for companionship had me meet [livejournal.com profile] jmspencer in the park one day for some hanging out. A few weeks later there was a big meetup of S*P readers, where I met (deep breath): [livejournal.com profile] zonereyrie, [livejournal.com profile] tlluria, [livejournal.com profile] tragicstory, [livejournal.com profile] scirocco, [livejournal.com profile] mercyspeaks, [livejournal.com profile] kobold (the artist of the comic), [livejournal.com profile] karlean7, [livejournal.com profile] greyhame, [livejournal.com profile] brewergnome, [livejournal.com profile] en_ki, and [livejournal.com profile] furtim. Some of whom I have seen since then, most of whom I wouldn't mind seeing again... *grin*

Another activity I started here in Boston was going to SCA dance practices, where I met [livejournal.com profile] udalrich and [livejournal.com profile] alexx_kay. They are both very good for dancing partners, hugs, and backrubs. Actually, they're also both very useful for geeking out. :)

Just a couple of months ago I began talking to [livejournal.com profile] isaiahblake on 3k, and within a month he was at my house for a month. That month is almost three weeks past, now, and I like to think I'm mostly settled from the emotional rollercoaster he induced in my life. ;)

This leaves the people I met first through LJ and have not met in person. First off, [livejournal.com profile] sleek, who (although being a mudder) I met in [livejournal.com profile] baronbrian's comments. I still haven't been able to figure out that coincidence, since he has never to my knowledge played on 3k. Next, [livejournal.com profile] ratbastrd, who actually found me through my interests. I believe Bureau 13 was the specific interest that caught his eye. I'm glad he approached me; he provides me with a lot of interesting political links and humor. We might be meeting this New Year. I found [livejournal.com profile] oddharmonic in the journals of [livejournal.com profile] tinder and [livejournal.com profile] dervish, and I friended her simply because she sounded smart, interesting, and geeky. I haven't been let down. My most recent friend is [livejournal.com profile] ian_goodknight, who found me through [livejournal.com profile] dayeaux and [livejournal.com profile] reyjadan. Looks like I might have the chance to meet him in a couple of weeks, too... :)

So that's my life, in LJ friends.

I like that meme. It makes me happy that I so vividly remember meeting some of you. :)

Holy crap.

[identity profile] kikipopo.livejournal.com 2003-12-17 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
*sniffle* And she doesn't remember meeting me! Let's see, I remember meeting you and thinking "Ohh, green hair, very sexy." :P Weren't you also helping me take care of a very drunken Adalius in Baltimore, or was it just me and Vraal? I thought you were there, too..

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2003-12-17 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I do remember meeting you, I just didn't know you had a LJ and therefore you're not on my friends list. Sillyhead! I helped take care of Addy, too, just not quite as much as you men...

My hair isn't green anymore. Does that mean I've lost my sexiness?!

[identity profile] kikipopo.livejournal.com 2003-12-18 10:25 am (UTC)(link)
No way! You're still a hottie. :P But alas, looks are only a small part of what makes someone sexy, in my opinion... The sexiest part of anybody is by far the mind, so you've got it all-around. ;)

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2003-12-18 03:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah, but you're a continent away and (I believe) taken, so your words are empty. EMPTY, I TELL YOU!!!

...sorry, a little bitterness creeped in there. ;)

Glad to know I don't have a Samson complex going on. Considering how much hair I cut off, I'd be an ugly hag if my sexiness were based on my hair!

Did you know you're four days older than I am? I find that neat.

[identity profile] kikipopo.livejournal.com 2003-12-21 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
Neither my girlfriend or I find any harm in admiring someone we think is sexy, together or individually.

Yeeaahh, us fishies rock! The 8th, eh? Same year even? I'm just barely an 80's baby. =(

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2003-12-21 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Right, but what good is it to me if you find me sexy but are unavailable for smoochies? ;)

If it wasn't the same year I wouldn't say I was 4 days younger than you, I'd say 4 days and a year or whatever. :P Give me some brainpower credit!

I don't mind being an 80s' baby. I like 80s' music!

[identity profile] zonereyrie.livejournal.com 2003-12-17 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Some of whom I have seen since then, most of whom I wouldn't mind seeing again... *grin*

It'd be cool to see you again too.

[identity profile] greyhame.livejournal.com 2003-12-17 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
You met [livejournal.com profile] jhim and [livejournal.com profile] special_j there too, if but briefly.

[identity profile] juldea.livejournal.com 2003-12-17 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, but those two aren't on my friends list. There were a few others, too, but I've had to prune my list since then.
