questions to ask

Will there be TVs available with VCR/DVDs?
Can I receive messages from "outside"?
What's the food like? Will I have choices? Snacks? My own kitchen?
How large is the suite?
Can I wear my own clothes?
Will I be able to ask staff to bring me books, CDs, etc?
Can I talk to other participants?
Will there be a computer available to play MP3 music, divx movies, etc?
How are menstrual cycles dealt with, since they'd be time-indicative?
What percentage of participants have successfully completed the study? Are there any incidents I should know about? Are there any pending lawsuits?

Add 'em if you think about 'em...

wow, that last set is good. i'm impressed.

and i think the menstrual cycle thing might be weird and part of what they study -- if your body doesn't know day from night, how will it know when it's time to bleed?

You know, when I first read that I said, "Pffft, it's not like your body keeps track of days and nights to figure out when it's time," but as I think about it more it doesn't seem that strange anymore. I wonder.

Well, I read somewhere (not the best source, huh?) that before electric lights, women's cycles were almost always timed to the moon somehow. I think full moon = bleeding, but I don't remember. Anyway, it does at least seem possible that if things like stress and travelling can mess up your cycle, for sure something like moving into a hospital for a couple of months could do it too, whether or not it had anything to do with knowing what day it was.

Yeah, I figure that due to the stress of the changed environment and all, the cycles would probably be so messed up that they wouldn't be useful for time calculation anyway...

Must ask. Must wake up in time to ask, tomorrow :P

I'd wonder how much of the $10,000 would be left after taxes.

Or at least, how it is reported on taxes. Good, thanks!!

A question they probably need to ask you:
Do you take any medication regularly now? If so, are you going to be able to stop taking them for the duration of the study?

I suspect that part of the reason that the test is so long is because it will have a good chance of spanning two menstrual cycles, and that's data that they want to have.

Silly boy. If you had read the study information I posted, you'd see they do indeed ask that question. More than once, in fact. ;)

Hey, it was long. I read the first few pages and then skimmed. :-S

Don't worry, I still think you're a neat person.
