my Sunday

I had a great day today!! I have a lot to post, so I will break it down into separate lj cuts. So you can choose what to read and what not, or at least see if there's something worth reading in there.

I was supposed to meet [livejournal.com profile] karlean7 (aka Mike) downtown at the Copley Library at 10. Therefore, I left my house at 8. Normally that trip would take an hour, but I wanted to give myself extra time. It's a good thing I did. First off, it took 30 minutes to walk to the T station, about 10-15 minutes longer than usual. Then I had to wait 20 minutes for a train, and when one got there, it made it one stop and then broke down on the tracks. Like, the train stopped, the lights went off, the heat went off, and we (a train packed full of people) just sat there. It was horrible. And I didn't bring a book. :(

However, I did bring my cool cell phone/radio/mp3 player. I was listening to it for a bit before I realized that it was such a good form of entertainment, I should share it. So I switched the radio to the classical station (neutral terrirory) and put on the speakerphone. People all turned around, and several smiled and thanked me. We all rocked out to an Aaron Copeland set, too. :)

Eventually the train started moving again, thanks to a service tow train. We made it to State and then had to all get off and switch trains - another wait. :P And this was underground! Finally, finally, I made it to Copley at 10:40. The library was closed and I didn't see Mike outside, so I started walking towards the Prudental - our plans were to catch a 11:10 movie, so I figured he might assume I'd meet him at the theater if I didn't make the Library meeting time. Well, I found him on the way, and we rushed our way inside to the warmth.

Mike and I went to see Under the Tuscan Sun, which he paid for since I'm poor. I don't know if I've said this before but Mike is quite fabulous, if you know what I mean, so catching a chick flick together was a great idea. And it was good! It was predictable as a chick flick about being strong and getting over disappointment, but that appeals to me at the moment. And the scenery is beautiful - the actual scenery, not just the Italian men. Although they were nice, too. ;) Anyway, the movie had a lot of themes that were perfect for me, so woo.

After Under the Tuscan Sun, Mike and I theater-hopped in to see School of Rock. It. Rocked. My. World. It was so awesome. I will be quoting it for months. I am so rocked. "That's so punk rock!!!" See the movie. Be rocked by the movie.

While sitting in the theater during the credits, Mike suddenly said enthusiastically, "Let's go to my house!" It was in such a way that I'm sure everyone in the theater thought we were going back for hot sex. But, I am without the equipment to make that enjoyable. ;) We simply went back to eat raw cookie dough and talk about our first loves. And to listen to musicals... lots and LOTS of musicals. "Tick, Tick... Boom!" and "Little Shop of Horrors" and "Hairspray" and possibly something else. He even tought me a bit of choreography to Hairspray :D I stayed until 7, at which point I thought it was late enough that I should head home. I still had a long trip home.

I got on the T on my way home from Mike's, and while sitting there thinking about going to the hospital tomorrow to plead my case for Free Care, I realized I could get pay stubs from Adriana. I have worked there since I moved here, I don't have a lot of income from it, but it is in town... So maybe it'll work for their wanting last paystubs requirement. Yay! So I called her to find out if she had any for me, and it turns out she needed me to come over anyway because her Sunday night help flaked on her. So she offered me consistent Sunday night gig, yay! That's only 5 hours a week, but hey it's something. :) So I turned my trip around, went to Adri's, and stayed for a bit of work (cooking dinner and such).

Still managed to leave at 9... Had to stand outside and wait for the train in the snow, but no serious waits and no breakdowns on the way home. And this walk only took 20 minutes, since it was no longer actually snowing.

As for the snow: we supposedly got around 30 inches. All I know is that in some places, piles were taller than I am. I was in to my thighs at points. And my upper quadriceps are really sore from having to drag my legs through snow. But I like the snow :) I just don't like the part where it's cold. Too bad they can't come separately.

And now I realize that all I've eaten today is a bunch of chocolate chip cookie dough, milk, string cheese, and dry pasta (cooked, but no sauce). This means I need some real food in me, STAT. See y'all later :)

p.s. It was a good day.
