Christmas Haul

As I told twitter (but I'll expand it here):
Immersion blender, hot cocoa mix, pajamas, money, Starbucks gift card, smelly bath things set, and my cancer-survivor father has started smoking again. >_<

Man. This year my dad specifically asked me to share my wishlist with him and the rest of the family. I assumed this meant he might actually pay attention to what was on it. Doh? (The blender was on it, but that was from my sister.) Instead, yet another gift basket of things I'm not likely to use.

Sorry. Not to be bitter about, after all, PRESENTS. But the smoking thing is kind of a bombshell. Hard to get past that one.

When I get stuff that I just won't ever use and I can't return it, I find a friend who would use it and I regift. It's not as cool as if I'd bought the present myself, but it means that it doesn't go to waste, and hopefully it brightens someone else's day. I did that with my coworker's gifts this year, in particular, and we got a very not-kosher meat present from distant family who just (obviously) don't know us very well but meant well. So we're thanking them and turning the meat over to friends who will enjoy it.

It's nice that people think of me during the holidays, but I actually have most of the things I need because my fab partners spoil me. So I do the regifting thing without too much guilt.

I suppose this makes me cheap, but it also makes me thrifty, and it means I can afford the 52 people on my gift list (most of the rest of whom got soap this year, 'cause we're po').

Yeah, I totally plan on regifting the bath stuff (or donating it to a women's shelter, maybe, if they accept froofy as much as they do practical.)
