Another Auld Lang Syne...

Just for a moment I was back at school, and felt that old familiar pain... And as I turned to make my way back home, the snow turned into rain...

Listening to that song two nights ago, I was tugged inside with a sudden intense desire to get back in contact with the Department (of Surrealism: cult formed in my early high school years, consisting of myself, Troy, Jed, Scot, Mike, Graham, and since then gaining over 100 web-based members - but essentially who I mean when I say "the Department" is those original 5 and me ... my best friends from long ago who keep that title no matter how long it happens between times we talk).

I didn't have updated email addresses for any of them, and searching through ICQ was messing up for some reason, so I just went to google and searched for "troy wood", the most prolific web writer of all of us. Author of TONS of "Mr.T vs." pages, and owner of EccentriCity (warning: pop up window alert!). So yeah, I was able to get his email address and write him, and from him get the emails from everyone else involved. Yesterday I wrote a big long rant email telling everyone what was going on in my life...

It's.. it's so wonderful being back in touch with them. They were and are still such a big part of my life... people who have changed my life and helped shape it and make me who I am, which I'm happy with. And hopefully, still and yet to be major parts of my life still.

It's shaping up for me to possibly drive down there the day after finals and spend some time with them before Christmas. Troy and Jed are moving in together, and need an official Surreal housewarming party (which will probably involve watching an assload of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Mystery Science Theater 3000).

It's so good to keep connected.

If I go there in December, I'm also going to try to find Lewie, my first boyfriend from freshman year. It's been even longer since I have even heard from him, but according to Scot, he's working at a record (yes, vinyl) store in Sacramento. I can just see one of those only-in-movies scenes where I stop by when he's working and surprise him... I wonder if he'd recognize me...

Oh! Troy asked me to pass on to the rest of Gæa Spore (which I will tonight as well as here) that when they move to Berkeley, he can hook them up with the Sacramento music scene if they need places to play. He's gotten pretty thick into it, even though he isn't in any band... he says that he and Jed go to so many concerts that people have assumed that they are someone important ;)

I'm just very, very, very happy and content.
